It was set up by the Partners Martin Watson and John Cutler to provide entrepreneurial advice to small and medium sized businesses (SME's) to utilise their combined experience of over 50 years of working with SME's as business owners and advisors. Our experience covers every aspect of starting a business, running a business, and being involved in the acquisition and sale process of businesses. This experience is invaluable when advising clients, and is what differentiates us from many advisors who have never run their own business, our advice is real world, not theoretical.
Martin is a Chartered Accountant, and following qualification became a Partner in a top 20 practice providing pro-active advice to SME businesses in a variety of sectors. He then left public practice and has occupied a number of Director / Shareholder positions and has thus witnessed at first hand the challenges that SME businesses face. John is a serial entrepreneur who has had a range of business interests including successfully building a business in the logistics sector with the aid of Private Equity, and through acquisition and organic growth took the business from £5m turnover to £40m before selling the business. He started a funeral business which enjoyed exceptionally rapid growth with the opening of a number of branches, and this resulted in the sale of the business to one of the largest funeral operators in the UK at a premium price. He has provided advice to many SME businesses to assist with their growth and ultimate sale.
The Partners are passionate about using their real-world experience to assist businesses. You deal directly with the Partners who carry out all work, we do not have any employees, we focus on a small number of clients at any one time, quality of service to clients is more important than quantity.
